The 2023 SRM Resolution Meet was a success! This was our 9th Annual and first in our beautiful new pool. I received nothing but positive feedback from the competitors, who braved some scattered showers during the day.  I would like to recognize those who graciously helped to run the meet:

Meet Software and Timing System- Chris Jones (lead), Sara Jones, Warren Schenstrom, Chad and Max Owens

Welcome Table- Merrie Waltz and Sheila Nelson

Safety Coordinator- Dave Hale

Head Timer- Sandy MacDonald

Announcer- Guy Miller

Hospitality- Erin Morales, Leslie Jaubert, and Eliza Grady

Timing- Santa Rosa High School and Santa Rosa Neptunes

Jill, Lizzy, Tyler, the SRJC swim team, and anyone else I may have forgotten.

The 9th annual Santa Rosa Resolution swim meet was held on a beautifully drought-denting, rain-scattered day on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the brand new Santa Rosa Junior College pool. Because (as one competitor perfectly stated) “swimmers aren't afraid of rain!,” over 125 swimmers, officials, timers and volunteers braved the weather to get the short-course yard competition season off to a fun and fast start!

Seventeen (17) Santa Rosa Masters swimmers came ready to race, posting impressive times for the season kick-off. Some of the swimmers were competing as SRM members for the first time, or, were back in the pool racing after over a 20 year swim meet break! On the ladies side, Molly Curley O'Brien, Ericka Richards, Marcella Rueda, Tracy Jones, Tamaki Myers, Sheila Nelson, Robin Bulman, and Carol McHale came away with some impressive swims. Representating the SRM men were Nate English, Chris Press, Eli Hamlin, Peter McCormick, Terry Crowley, Charles Neidhoefer, Chip Pettibone, David Rust and Jim Stewart. With all of these SRM members participating, we were able to put together three (3) fun and fast relays, with Chris Press anchoring the winning 200 free relay team of Nate, Ericka, and Marcella in a time of 21.86. Wow!

“Caps” off to Tamaki Myers for swimming in her first USMS swim meet!, to Ericka Richards for breaking her own team records in the 50, 100, and 200 Free in the ladies 40-44 age group, and to David Rust for setting four (4!) team records in the men's 75-79 age group: 200 Free, 100 Breast, 50 Fly, and 100 Fly.

The 50-Free Challenge, the race unique to the Resolution meet, was won by our very own Ericka Richards with a Resolution time of 19.59.

The short-course yard season runs through April with several meet opportunities on the schedule. The Pacific Masters Swimming website (https://www.pacificmasters.org) is your resource for all things Masters Swimming in northern California. Let's keep the fun racing going by entering some meets!

Congratulations to all SRM swimmers for your hard work and dedication to your water time. As everyone's swims showed on Saturday, the training has paid off!

Santa Rosa Masters would like to thank all the swimmers who participated in the 2023 Resolution Meet.  We enjoyed hosting you at our beautiful new pool, and look forward to seeing you next year.

Happy Swimming-

John
