August 17-21, 2016 Gresham, Oregon

Over 1300 swimmers converged on Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR for the 2016 Summer Long Course Nationals. It was a weekend of extremes when the temperatures soared above 100 on both Friday and Saturday, events started at 7:30 each day and warm-ups in the competition pool had 20+ people to a lane.
Our congratulations to Hugh Wilder as he became National Champion with a first place in both the 50 & 100 meter backstroke. He also picked up a 3rd in 200 back, and 7th in both the 50 free and 50 fly.
Robin Bulman went the distance with a 5th in the 1500 meter free, and placed 7th in the 100 meter breaststroke. She also swam the 200 meter breast, 400 meter free, and the 50 breast.
Sheila Nelson poured it all into one event and placed 4th in the 200 back.
Merrie Walts took 2nd in both 200 IM & 200 back, 3rd in 100 back, and 5th in both 50 & 100 free.
